St. Patrick's Day was a massive party for the public, and a massive round of arrests for Colorado police statewide. Nearly 400 drivers were arrested on DUI charges in Colorado over the week of St. Patrick’s Day.
Law enforcement agencies across the state increased DUI patrols between March 11 and March 18. During last year’s St. Patrick’s Day enforcement period, which ran for seven days, 505 people were arrested. This year, 396 people were arrested, so the numbers were down, but still quite high.
A total of 79 agencies participated in the increased patrols. The Aurora Police Department made 46 arrests, the Denver Police Department made 44, the Colorado Springs Police Department made 32, and the Colorado State Patrol made 27.
The next increased enforcement period will run from April 9 through May 15, so please be aware.
